A UC-wide protest unfolds at the first UC Regents meeting of the year.

Today University of California Santa Cruz students protest alongside UC students from both Northern and Southern California at this year’s first meeting of the Regents of the University of California. The protest is a UC-wide action in solidarity with workers. The students demands include livable wages for UC workers, the end to subcontracting practices, divestment from companies complicit in violating Palestinians’ human rights, and divestment from the companies connected to “immigrant detention centers, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP)”. These demands were made collectively between different student organizations across many of the UCs. Aside from the general demands, there are also campus specific ones. The full demands can be found here.
